Rating SystemWhere boats will sail in mixed fleets, the IRC rating system will be used to determine the results. A fleet result will be provided for those fleets for which a separate start has not been possible. For the keelboat classes, IRC Certificates will be arranged by the regatta organisers as part of the entry process and included in the entry fee. We are currently arranging for standard class ratings to be developed, based on the class rules and in consultation with the class measurers. As part of the entry process, owners will be required to either accept the standard class rating, or if their boat is "deviant" in any way, to enter any data that varies from standard. It will be up to the class officials as to whether boats are rated within the class or level-rated for class results. However, it is intended to organise some races across the whole fleet, or alongside BCYC races, for which a rating certificate will be required. The data for the standard ratings will be posted as they become available. The Metre boats and any one-off designs will need to apply for an individual rating certificate in the usual way through RORC Rating. It is now possible to enter and update the class data for one-design classes. Watch this space! |
