The social events at Cowes Classics Week are an integral part of the week, much enjoyed by competitors, who are able to spend quality time in the company of like-minded sailors and classic boat enthusiasts. The full programe can be found further down this page.
Tea & Cake
Competitors can again enjoy tea and delicious homemade cake after racing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These refreshments are served at the Royal London, when the bar is also open.
Free Prize Giving Receptions
Regatta entries include a number of tickets to the following receptions (competitors are issued with wrist bands which are effectively your entry ticket to these events). We are deeply indebted to our sponsors who make it possible for us to lay on these free receptions.
Suppers & Dinners
As usual, we shall visit a number of yacht clubs during the week, including a Hog Roast and dancing at Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, club supper at Royal London Yacht Club, drinks reception at the Classic Boat Museum including a planned classic car display, the 'triple decker' buffet, BBQ or carvery at the Island Sailing Club and of course the main regatta dinner at the Royal London Yacht Club.
Early booking discount, Refunds and Exchanges
A discount of 10% will be available on all social events booked before midnight on Friday 24 July 2020, so it makes sense to arrange your aprés racing well in advance, especially as most events have a strictly enforced maximum capacity and are regularly sold-out.
After Friday 24 July 2020, the social ticket sales and enquiries will move offline from the website to the RLYC office. Please note that we shall not directly make refunds on social tickets purchased but no longer required, but will set up an exchange system for competitors during the regatta.
We have indicated the appropriate dress code for the various events listed below with the following interpretations;
- Reefer - Jacket and tie for gentlemen; appropriate formal wear for ladies.
- Smart casual - Tailored trousers and shirts (no shorts, jeans or T-shirts).
- Open - Courteous open choice which includes dry sailing rig (but no wet clothing please).
Social & Event Programme Overview for 2020
Please note that competitors must refer to the Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions and Amendments when published for full details.
As the final details of the Social Programme in particular were not finalised at the time of publishing the Cowes Classics Week Notice of Race on 14 April 2020, a formal Amendment to the NoR will follow in due course to align that document with the final Social Programme. In the meantime we shall endeavour to ensure that the following Social Programme Overview reflects the current position.
